  1. Love this image! A plain paper, perhaps with a stain, perhaps something intentional, on it with a barren tree.

How often do we feel barren, wondering about the stains in our lives? Yet God, the all merciful One, helps us to look back and see those stains as something of beauty. Something He can use.

It is almost winter here in New England, and the trees will soon look like that picture. Dead. Useless. Yet we know the promise of spring awaits us and those dead trees will spring to life again, full of flowers to remind us that The Resurrection and Life brings new life to those who have been transformed by His redeeming love.

Do we know whether the artist was intentional in this watercolor stain? Not here. We do know, however, that the Chief Artist, the creator of all, never wastes pain, or challenges, but uses them in our lives. He’s intentional.

We just need to step back and see the big picture sometimes.
